Feature Request: Relationship Options when Branches are Collapsed
I was doing great with XMind until I realized that all of the relationships I created between nodes would be hidden when I collapsed the branches. Sometimes you need to continue to see the relationships even when they're collapsed.
My suggestion is to add some relationship options!
- Set the behavior of an individual relationship so that upon collapse it can remain visible and point to the next highest uncollapsed node.
- Allow this to be the default behavior for all relationships.
- Allow for a change in appearance when collapsed - for example: change from a thick line to a thin line, change from a line to a dotted line, change from one color to another color, etc.
- Option to hide a relationship name/label visibility when collapsed.
- Options for what to do when multiple relationships would overlap 1:1 (make line thicker, change color, change name/label to indicate multiple, etc.)
Here's one good use case - say you want to show how data is flowing within a database or between databases. Databases contain schemas. Schemas contain tables. Tables contain columns. Relationships can then indicate the flow of data from column to column in other schemas and tables. You may not want to see hundreds of columns at once, so you collapse the columns to see just the schemas and tables. Right now the relationships all disappear, but with the enhancements, you'd be able to see not just what columns are connected but also what tables are connected. This is a much simpler and digestible view, and if you wanted more detail you could just expand the branches you're interested in!
